well here you have it...

Well, Jarom's away, so I've spent a bit of time posting on this here blog. Please don't calculate the time it takes to post every five pictures....enjoy!

Missouri and beyond

We drove to Missouri 4 days after we got home from our camping trip. We did the 16 hour drive with only two stops for gas. The girls did very well and enjoyed watching the first half of pride and prejudice (well, lizzy actually did not enjoy that).

At grandma and grandpa Brent's house, the girls had a great time. Grandma and Grandpa both would sit and read to the girls, and that is the way to my children's hearts.

Jarom helped with odd jobs such as fixing the shed door and rigging up the flag.

We went to the visitors center at Independence.

We went to Adam-Ondi-Ahmen

We got to go to Kansas and visit Aunt Susie, Uncle Rick, Jenna, Stacy, and Audry.
BBQ'd hamburgers etc. was great!

We drove up to Omaha and went to the Winter Quarters Visitor Center
It was raining, so we didn't go to the cemetary.
The girls did not want to change out of their pioneer costumes!
We spent the night at the base there, it was very, very nice!

Then we drove to the badlands and went on a few hikes.

This looks like steps at first, but it turns into a ladder going straight up!
That hike was a bit too intense, I don't know if I recommend it for babies.

Then we drove to Mount rushmore and stayed at a hotel in Custer, SD.
The girls now know who is on the mountain.

I set the camera on a rock wall.

We went on a tour of the wind caves...very, very neat.

Got stuck in a buffalo jam. (or Bison, as we have taught the girls)

Jarom and I had buffalo steak, and the girls had buffalo burger and hot dog.
Soooooo Gooooooood!!!!

Some random shop on main street in Custer. Annie is pretending to sleep.

You might recognize Independence rock from Oregon Trail.
On our drive home we drove along the platte and sweet water rivers on the pioneer trails.
The girls climbed to the top of independence rock with Jarom.

Just a mile down the highway from independence rock is devil's gate and Martin's Cove.
(where the Martin and Willy handcart companies hunkered down in the winter while waiting to be rescued.) It was a wonderful visitor center and Lizzy loved the sister missionary (she was older) who took us through.

Well, thats the end of that trip!!

Southern Utah Vacation

This is our arches trip in May, a week after we got back from Hawaii. We camped for 3 nights. The girls love camping and hiking!

Stop 1: Dead Horse Point (yes we sang "dead horse, dead horse")
Visitor Center

Cliffs, cliffs, and more cliffs!

A short hike in Canyonlands

setting up the tent that night in Moab
(notice the cotton wood seeds EVERYWHERE!)

Our 3 babies on the ground-2 adults on the queen air-mattress tent.

We hiked devil's garden, it got too windy so we only did 4 miles of it.

Then we hiked about another mile and then did sand dune arch!

Balanced rock is a favorite for the girls

They know all about Cryptobiotic soil!

We hiked up to delicate arch! The girls are real troopers!

The next day we did a very short hike, and lizzy even hiked it!
(she refused to get back into the backpack)

The girls climb on slickrock like little goats!

And Annie was way excited to cook her own dinner!

Hawaii!!!!

Jarom and Heidi's Trip to Hawaii April-May 2008
Kayaking was fun

We stood on British soil at the Capt. Cook Monument (yes, we sang "God Save the King")

We ate yummy teriyaki steak and fried fish!
